SD-WAN performs to the standard of the physical layer beneath it

Overlay technologies cannot compensate for an unvalidated physical layer. Before SD-WAN, hybrid connectivity, or cloud migration is deployed, the LAN and WAN underlay has to be ready: documented, tested, and fit for purpose.

The Core Problem

Overlay technology cannot fix an unvalidated physical layer

SD-WAN is a software-defined architecture that optimises traffic across available WAN connections. It depends entirely on the physical underlay beneath it: LAN switches, cabling, edge routers, and WAN termination points. When that underlay is undocumented, unvalidated, or degraded in brownfield environments, SD-WAN performance reflects those limitations regardless of the software configuration above it.

SD-WAN projects that stall in delivery or underperform in production almost always have one root cause: a physical layer that was assumed ready rather than proven ready.

AAA Communications nationwide delivery
1
Undocumented LAN infrastructure at branch sites creating integration delays
2
Legacy switching and cabling unable to support the throughput SD-WAN is deployed to deliver
3
WAN termination points with no baseline performance documentation
4
Brownfield sites with mixed-generation equipment creating compatibility issues during migration
5
No structured change management or as-built records after SD-WAN activation
6
Physical layer faults surfacing post-deployment and misattributed to SD-WAN configuration

Enterprise Connectivity

SD-WAN is only as good as
the physical infrastructure beneath it.

AAA designs and deploys enterprise-grade LAN and SD-WAN infrastructure. Qualified installation, nationwide reach, and a single accountable partner from layer 1 to the edge.

What We Deliver

Enterprise connectivity readiness end to end

From LAN readiness assessment through to targeted remediation and WAN integration, delivered as a single accountable engagement. Enterprise network resilience starts with a physical layer that is documented, tested, and brownfield-aware.

SD-WAN Readiness Assessment

Site-by-site physical layer assessment identifying gaps between your current infrastructure and the requirements of your SD-WAN deployment. Switching, cabling, edge devices, and WAN termination all assessed against your solution design.

Gap analysisSite auditReadiness report

LAN Remediation

Targeted remediation of existing LAN infrastructure — switching upgrades, cabling remediation, rack rationalisation, and documentation. Work is scoped to what is required for SD-WAN readiness, not wholesale replacement.

WAN Integration Support

Physical layer support for WAN circuit activation — validating termination points, testing connectivity, coordinating with carrier technicians, and documenting the physical WAN configuration at each site.

Hybrid Connectivity Environments

Physical infrastructure support for environments combining MPLS, broadband, 4G/5G, and fibre WAN connections. We ensure the physical layer supports the diversity and redundancy your hybrid connectivity design requires.

Branch Site Standardisation

Consistent physical layer build standards across distributed branch networks. Site templates, deployment documentation, and quality assurance processes that ensure each branch meets the same infrastructure standard.

Infrastructure Documentation

Post-deployment as-built documentation covering physical LAN topology, WAN circuit details, device inventory, and cabling records. Your team inherits a documented physical layer, not assumptions.

How We Work

Assess the physical layer first. Deploy with confidence.

We validate that the physical infrastructure is ready before SD-WAN is activated. Every site. Every time.

01

Physical Layer Assessment

Site-by-site audit of existing LAN, cabling, switching, and WAN termination against your SD-WAN solution design and performance requirements.

02

Gap Identification & Scope

Gaps between current state and SD-WAN readiness documented and prioritised. Remediation scope agreed before any work commences.

03

Targeted Remediation

LAN and physical layer remediation delivered at each site, aligned to your project timeline and staged to minimise disruption to live operations.

04

Readiness Sign-off & Documentation

Physical layer readiness confirmed at each site before SD-WAN activation. As-built documentation provided. Single point of accountability throughout.
